Your Wedding Dress Could end up in the Airport, and that is actually Amazing

Las Vegas has given the world a lot of things: the neon light, the all-you-can-eat buffet, the concept of losing $200 on a Tuesday and calling it a character-building experience. But perhaps its most enduring export—even more than Celine Dion, who famously logged over 1,000 shows at Caesars Palace—is the wedding. The Vegas wedding. The spontaneous, sequined, Elvis-officiated, utterly unforgettable Vegas wedding.

And now, one lucky 2026 bride gets to have her wedding dress immortalized in the most Vegas way possible: on display at Harry Reid International Airport, where millions of bleary-eyed travelers will stop mid-stride with their overpriced terminal coffee and think, “Wow.”

Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya and the Vegas Wedding Chamber have officially opened submissions for the 2026 Vegas Wedding Dress of the Year contest, and the deadline is Sunday, January 3, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. That gives you the better part of a year to get married, look incredible, and get your best photo ready.

Why This Contest Is Actually Kind of a Big Deal
Vegas isn’t just a wedding destination—it’s the wedding destination. The Wedding Capital of the World™ hosts thousands of weddings annually, ranging from black-tie ballroom affairs to barefoot poolside ceremonies to drive-through chapels. The Little White Wedding Chapel alone has hosted ceremonies for everyone from Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow to Britney Spears, who famously tied the knot with childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004 in a union that lasted approximately 55 hours. That one didn’t make the display, probably.

The point is, Vegas weddings run the full spectrum from wildly extravagant to wonderfully unhinged, and every single one of them has a love story behind it. This contest exists to put one of those stories (and one seriously show-stopping dress) on a global stage.

“Thousands of elegant, fun, stylish and romantic weddings, with heart-melting love stories behind them, take place in Las Vegas every year,” said Goya. “We created this contest to celebrate them on a global stage.”

The winning dress will be displayed beginning February 2027 inside Harry Reid International Airport. Think about that reach. Over 57 million passengers moved through that airport in a recent year. That’s a lot of eyes on one very beautiful dress.

So Who Can Enter?
Pretty much anyone. You don’t have to be the bride herself; brides, families, friends, and professional photographers are all welcome to submit an entry. If you were at a Vegas wedding in 2026 and you’ve got the shot, you’re in play.

Here’s what qualifies: The photo must depict a bride wearing a dress from a wedding that took place in Las Vegas (Clark County, Nevada) during the 2026 calendar year. The dress must also be available for display in Las Vegas during 2027. If the winning dress needs to travel, Clark County will cover shipping and insurance through their preferred vendor, so no need to stress about bubble-wrapping a ballgown yourself.

How to Submit

Head to the Wedding Capital of the World’s Instagram page @vegasweddingcapital and find the submission form linked in the bio. Your complete entry will need to include:

1. A photo of the bride in her dress, worn at a Clark County wedding in 2026
2. The bride’s Instagram handle
3. The date of the wedding
4. Where the photo was taken
5. Up to 300 words making the case for why this dress deserves the crown
6. Acknowledgment that the winner must be willing to send the dress (or a replica) for display, along with the wedding story and photo

The selection committee, made up of members from the Wedding Capital of the World and the Vegas Wedding Chamber, will choose the winner. The winning bride will be contacted by Friday, January 22, 2027, and the dress needs to arrive at the Office of the County Clerk at 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy., Las Vegas, NV 89106 by Monday, February 1, 2027.

A Few Tips from Your Friends at GoLive.vegas
Start pulling together your best photos now, even if your 2026 wedding hasn’t happened yet. Scope out your photographers, think about your setting — because “where the photo was taken” is part of the submission, and a stunning backdrop only helps. The Strip at golden hour? The Neon Museum? Red Rock Canyon? Vegas is full of locations that make dresses look like they belong in a film.

Also: that 300-word description is not a formality. That’s your love story pitch. Make it count.

And if you’re not getting married in 2026 but you know someone who is—send them this. You could be the reason their dress ends up in an airport, and honestly, that’s a pretty solid wedding gift.
